Frequently Asked Questions (F.A.Q)
Dragon Hunters Core
Philosophies:
Friendliness, Recognition, Forgiveness – In guild chat, you will see
Dragon Hunters welcoming others as they log on, congratulating guild
members as they level or complete quests or acquire a prized item, and
treating each other with respect during conversations. If mistakes are
made, members are given chances to correct them.
Dragon Hunters enjoy the game principally for the camaraderie gained
through group questing, and in the challenges presented by adventuring
and crafting.
Dragon Hunters know the difference between real and virtual life; real
life always takes precedence over virtual life.
While Dragon Hunters enjoy acquiring prized items as much as any player,
they do not view item acquisition as the primary motive for playing the
game.
1) Who is (are) the Guild Leader(s)?
Kara is the guild founder and leader, with rank ‘Master Hunter’. Feel free to talk to her
or any guild officer if you have questions about the guild. The guild
has additional leadership in the Senior Officer and Officer ranks.
2) What kind of Guild is Dragon Hunters?
Dragon Hunters
is the largest guild on the Lucan D'Lere server. We have a large active
player base, and our guild members run the spectrum from casual
solo-focused players, to raid veterans who play daily. Unlike a number
of other guilds, we do not have play-time requirements, or level
restrictions. In general, we are a very friendly and helpful guild.
3) What are the entry requirements to join Dragon
Hunters?
We have a
general open admissions policy. Simply talk to an officer to sign up.
The only caveats to that are that we are an English speaking guild and
require conversational skills in that language and that we don't allow
farmers (people who get paid to farm characters and/or resources).
4) I'm a new player - will I be out of place in
the guild?
Absolutely
not! We have players with all levels of play experience (from those who
started in EQ2 Beta all the way to those for who this is their first MMO
and have only been playing a few days). When you join Dragon Hunters,
you'll have a lot of people who are there and willing to help you learn
the game.
5) I'm already at level 70 - does the guild
have anything for me?
Absolutely!
We have over 40 characters that are level 60+ (about 20 that are level
70). There are plenty of grouping and instance opportunities in Dragon
Hunters.
6) I'm a hardcore raider. How many raids do you
conduct a week?
We're not a
heavy raid guild. We do conduct guild raids, but the frequency is
probably better looked at on a monthly basis rather than weekly basis.
We'll probably get to the point where we are raiding 3 to 6 times a
month - but if you are looking for a raid guild, then Dragon Hunters
probably won't be satisfying for you.
7) I like to tradeskill - and only adventure
sometimes. Will I fit in?
You bet! We
have a number of players who concentrate on crafting. Crafters are
always welcomed and gain guild rank just as combat characters do.
8) How is guild chat? Any guidelines? What
about the forums?
You will find Dragon Hunter guild chat to be friendly and active. Adult
language on guild chat (or the forums) is not encouraged, but neither is
it totally absent. Just be aware that the Dragon Hunter guild is large,
and if you do use adult language or discuss adult topics that are
generally not found in common conversations, some members may either ask
you in guild chat or via a private tell to refrain from continuing.
Posts on the forums will only be removed or edited by admin if the post
contains a direct personal attack, or divulges someone’s personal
information without their consent. Topics can be locked if a flame war
erupts and that is the only way of putting out the fire.
9) How do I get promoted? How can I become an
officer?
New members
typically stay at their initial rank for a week or two. Promotions are
normally handled by the guild leader Kara. Generally speaking,
you will be promoted to a rank commensurate with your level within that
timeframe. Level ranks are Junior Hunter at 20, Hunter at 30, Senior
Hunter at 40. A bit more attention is paid to Senior Hunter rank since
this gives bank access. To become an officer takes more time, and is
generally based on your contributions to the guild and leadership
abilities. These contributions can be guild status, helping guild mates,
item donations, organizing guild events, etc. Alternative characters
(alts) of a guild member can all be given the same rank as the main
character, but the member has to request that this be done since we
don’t know otherwise than an alt should be promoted to some higher
level.
10. Are there any looting guidelines or loot
tracking within the guild?
There is no Dragon-Kill-Point (DKP) keeping in Dragon Hunters. The
culture within Dragon Hunters is not loot-centric; the guild leadership
wants to encourage Dragon Hunters to play the game for camaraderie
purposes, quest challenges, exploration of new content, and the
satisfaction that can be gained by crafting of prized items. We
encourage Need-before-Greed (NBG) looting when grouping.
11. On the forums, I see topics for various
quest groups – what are these?
The Quest Groups category is meant to coordinate the activities of two
different types of regularly meeting groups: Quest line groups and
Static groups. Quest line groups are formed for those quest lines such
as the Claymore series that take several adventuring sessions to
complete. Quest line groups are named after the quest series that they
target. Send a message to the admin if you wish to request that a new
quest line board be started. The HQ and Quest board in the Guild News
forum can be used for coordinating quests that only require one or two
adventuring sessions. Static groups are formed by individuals who would
like to regularly adventure together, and tackle different objectives
each time they meet. Static groups are named after the coordinator (s)
of the group, i.e, “Joe’s Quest Group” or “Bill and Mary’s Quest
Group”. Send a message to the admin if you wish to start a Static
group.
12. Are there any special rules for Quest line
Groups or Static Quest Groups?
Because these groups can persist over a long time, we do have some rules
regarding these special groups. The principle rule is that the group
cannot promote a culture that is radically different from that espoused
by the Dragon Hunter Core Philosophies. Specific examples: a Quest
line/Static Quest group cannot keep dragon-kill-points for members, have
an elite application process to join, or have a separate FAQ that
espouses behavior that is different from that in the Dragon Hunter’s
FAQ. The quest groups cannot compete with each other for members by
offering ‘sign-up’ bonuses or the promise of special ‘lewt’ if a member
joins them. A member should join a quest group simply because they
enjoy the friendship of the people in the group and because their play
style/play times are compatible. It fine to set limits on the number of
members in the group simply because there are limits in the game as to
how many can group at a single time. The admin will not create any
special viewing or posting privileges on any Quest line or Static Quest
group forum – any Dragon Hunter will be able post/view in those forums.
13. What can cause a guild member to be asked
to leave the guild?
This action is only taken as a last resort if repeated offensive
behavior is exhibited by a member, or if the guild leadership receives
repeated complaints about a particular guild member from other players,
or if a guild member continues actions that are detrimental to the guild
reputation or member happiness. A guild member will always be given the
chance to correct their behavior before being asked to leave the guild.
If a guild member does not leave voluntarily when asked, they will be
removed by guild leadership. This action is not taken lightly.
14. How easy is it to find a group in the
Guild? It seems like I am always LFG!
You can always try using in-game Guild chat to find a group, Dragon
Hunters usually try to respond to calls for help with quests and
grouping. However, this does not always work as players may already be
involved in other activities. Another good method is to use the Guild
Forums to schedule grouping in advance with other Dragon Hunters. See
the FAQ questions on "Static Quest Groups" - these are a great way to
form groups that meet each week for adventuring!
15. I am a crafter - am I expected to
provide my services to other guild members for free?
It is up to the individual crafter as to how they want to handle
providing their services the guild - they can provide crafting for free,
for a reduced fee over what they charge non-guild members, for the same
fee as they charge other players, or any combination in-between. It is
entirely up to the individual crafter. We do ask that guild members do
not abuse a crafter's generosity if services are offered for free or
reduced cost - be mindful that there are limits to any person's
generosity!!!! If a guild crafter feels that their services are being
abused, please contact a guild officer.
